Pebble Beach Week 2007: RM Auction preview
This year's RM Monterey Sports & Classic Car Auction will take place on Friday and Saturday. Similar to our experience at Russo & Steele, we got some pics of a few of the top draws while the cars were being unloaded at the venue. In the case of the RM offerings, we stumbled across some real stunners. As soon as we got there we saw their 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster with Mayfair bodywork. It should go for at least $2.5 mil. We also spotted a Lotus open-wheeler, Shelby Cobra 42
McMullen's 1953 Corvette sells for $400,000 at auction
RM Auctions just concluded their sell-off of part of the The McMullen Collection in Lapeer, MI. Besides a 1931 Duesenberg that went for $1.35 million (before the 10% auction fees), and a 1930 Cadillac V16 that drew a top bid of $960,000, one of the most spectacular lots was a near perfect 1953 Corvette Roadster. 1953 was the first year for Corvette production, and although the performance of these earliest 'Vettes was pretty pathetic, they are still quite desirable to collectors as the earliest
2007 RM Auctions, Arizona: Mega gallery
Here we bring you another mega gallery of random shots that didn't make our main posts from Auction Week in Arizona. Barrett-Jackson, the huge carnival with 1200+ vehicles held at Westworld, is the one that gets the lion's share of coverage. Russo and Steele is like B-J's little brother with its smaller size but similar features. And then there's the subject of this particular gallery, RM. The RM Auction is the more subdued, muscle-car-light, and civilized auction, held not in a tent, but in the

The most expensive red and green auction cars of the year
In a special slideshow on their website, Sports Car Market has fashioned a sort of Christmas card for collectible car lovers. Culling the year's most expensive lots out of the top auctions from around the globe, they found the ten priciest red and green vehicles to cross the blocks in 2006. Sure we already told you about the top ten overall, but this is kind of special. Starting with the gorgeous red 1958 Ferr
Auction Action: 2006 Durangoneer on the block
I don't envision myself needing the power and capability of an SUV any time soon in my life, but the Durangoneer is one ute I would drive just for fun. It's a HEMI-powered 2004 Dodge Durango chassis that's been shortened and strengthened wearing the body of a 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - early SUV looks with late model technology and capability. The Durangoneer was built as a project car for Popular Mechanics and was apparently at this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas, but we must've walked right by
